Bontrager Race Lite

Thanks fella, sorry to outbid you at the last minute, I missed out on one from a chap in the states a little while ago and have regretted it since! I'm not sure whether to keep my privateer as well or swap all of the gear from it onto the race light.................. I think something has to got though, I can only just get into the kitchen as it is!

Very nice...I've a bontrager stem up for sale if needed

Thanks mate, it has a stem on it in the photos, but I don't know what it is, or if it is included! Not heard back from the seller yet, so i'll keep you posted.....do you have any photos?

Does anyone have any further info on these last race lights made? Were they pre trek, or post trek but before they moved production? Interested to find out thats all...... Thanks in advance 8)

Thanks mate, I had been watching it for a while, got to the dying seconds and the connection failed. managed to get it up and running again just in time to place a bid in the last couple of seconds! scary times! Your good lady's is nice, I assume that's a small....? what year is it?

i don't actually know, always presumed a 95/96 so i stuck the sl's n xt on it - seems to work. the one you've won does seem to have the gussets in similar places....

I believe John is right on these. They were real bontragers made in California, but sold after Trek aquired Bontrager.

I believe I read somewhere, (in other words not sure), that Bontrager had made a ton of these, and they sold for years after Trek bought the company. So many infact, that there were still some left, when Trek stopped selling them, and they were sold off to another company and sold as "nontragers".

Now, please, if I'm wrong...someone help me see the errors of my ways as I don't want to add to the sea of misinformation already flooding the internet.

thanks :D

Sounds pretty much right to me...as far as I know the last bontrager frames sold around '98, no idea when production stopped though. Paul Sadoff (rock lobster) then came by the leftover frame tubes. Obviously he couldn't use the Bontrager name hence the Nontrager was born..

On that subject, does anybody have one :?:
