Keith....as I remember designed and used these long tube decals as protection for the tubes ie they were designed to protect the paint/tubes and then be replaced by the owner.
They were supposed to be more like a chainstay sticker than a traditional graphic such as say a "Breezer".

Yep they were there as replaceable paint protectors. Good functional stuff. Im on my second set in 19 years, thogh the 2nd set has had it easy. Putting on replacements you really had to get the frame clean or they could lift. They are incredibly robust.

Ah, that makes sense...as if this paint need protecting. Out of all my old bikes, the bontragers finish has been the most durable...very thick powder coat orange.
