Bontrager mustang ceramic rim for rim brakes,

kaydee

Retro Guru
I recently removed this from one of my old bikes ,it is as described,Bontrager mustang 26” rim 32 hole eyeletted with ceramic braking surfaces. It says “front”on the sticker but it ran on the rear of my bike for years. It is ,as the photos show a bit used, shall we say. However it is dead true and the braking surfaces are in very good condition.
I tried mavic ceramic rims but the ceramic surface used to fail. Not so with these, which have worn out dozens of sets of V brake pads.
For an older build, with V brakes, and if you don’t mind the less than pristine condition I think this rim will serve you well for a long time.
If anyone is interested then let’s start at £15,I will ask the buyer to pay postage around £5 click and collect.Or make me an offer......Or I will throw it away.......or you can collect.
Thank you

Re:

It is a bummer you only have the one rim. Coating reminds me of a pair of Saturae road rims i had back in the 80's. Braking was amazing and after 1000s of all weather training and racing miles they showed no signs of wear.

Yep, these are the same,I have rarely had a bike with two matching rims,I know some couldn’t live with that but I never wore out two rims together so ended up buying the best at the time.Which invariably meant odd rims.
On the up side ,the rims are not something I tend to look at much other than cleaning and checking spoke tension.
I would rather have good strong (odd) wheels that don’t wear out rather than matching pairs which do.
I guess you dont want it then
all the best
