Bolt Pattern for Specialized Strong Arm Circa - 1999

Hi Guys i recently came into possession of a 99 Hardrock that i am building as a single speed.

anyway it has 5 bolt Specialized Cranks. I want to make sure i get the right chain ring. can anyone help me with bolt pattern and spacing?

measure the exact distance between the centre of two adjacent holes and times the figure by 1.701 to get the BCD (Bolt Circle Diameter). You'll most likely end up with 94mm. Any 94mm BCD ring should fit the middle or outer position. You need single speed chainring bolts (or at very least very short nuts) to secure the new ring in place unless you put the ring in middle position and fit a bashguard in place of the outer ring (same BCD of course!).

For the ring, something like a single speed specific Stronglight or Sugino would be good as 1) retro and 2) not ramped or pinned like a triple ring. Other more modern rings are made by FSA, Azonic and several others (Azonic are extra wide so you don't need shorter bolts).
