Bob Jackson 1964

Retro Newbie
Just finished the shake down rides on my recent Bob Jackson and what a great bike it’s turned out, light responsive and comfortable. Not sure of the history of this model. I have included p picture of the build sheet. Not heard of a GT can anyone help on this? Built with mostly NOS parts mixture that works well for me. This bike will be used all year round for commuting as well as Hill climbs at weekends. Chain set is a modern 48/32 as I live in Dartmoor the home of hills. Brakes are classic Weinnman 750 as I’m using 700c wheels. Any information on this marquee would be useful. 3E9EF09E-FBE4-47BE-A087-E8CFA658B2AE.webp

Iirc in the '70s Don Farrell had a shop on the west side of the Edgware road (I'm calling it that- it is probably called something else that many miles North from Marble Arch.. the A5 anyway) and they also had a shop in Hemel Hempstead. They weren't exclusively a bike shop- I seem to remember them doing skis, and other sports stuff as well.

The perfect, classic road bike. Fab!
Just for interest I have attached a graph of Bob Jackson frame numbers that I have been putting together. This is broad brush stuff but appears faily accurate. If anyone reading this has a BJ frame can they send me the year and frame number and I would add it into the info I have. On the graph obviously frame numbers are on the vertical axis with years along the bottom. I would particualrly like info from around 1958, 1997 and 2007. Thanks.

Top work that. Well done.

Your commuting on that bike on Devon roads?!

Shame on you!!

The roads around here are awful, much worse than the roads in Yorkshire both in condition, dirt and dangers....

Love riding steel bikes, all weathers although I’m very careful of maintenance. I weeks riding and a full clean and adjust. For the winter I use 105 group set as it’s cheaper to replace and works well.
