Just about to cash in my C2W on a Team Carbon Roadie at £999, and they've gone up to £1199 overnight!!!!!!!

Probably because they are advertising them all over the TDF coverage at the mo.

Go in and have a haggle if you really want one.

just waiting for my voucher in the post then i'm hoping for a mtb pro, hope they dont put themup either!

I found something similar when I went to buy a BMX for my son's birthday earlier this year; despite asking the sales assistant and double-checking the price, it had gone up 20 quid by the time I got to the till!

The floor manager was downright unhelpful and initially completely unwilling to compromise in any way; in the end I paid a tenner more for it - had we not been leaving on holiday that day and only returning on my son's birthday I'd have left it there and bought somewhere else (we're kind of short of LBS in these parts, and I doubt I'd have found anything similar in stock elsewhere in town.)

In the end, thanks to quidco cashback I didn't pay too much more than the sticker price but it still annoyed me greatly and I certainly won't be buying another bike there.

Oh yes... when I got home and checked online, the online price was still the original one as on the price sticker in the shop.

online is sometimes cheaper on the halfords site compared to the shop but if you reserve it online you get it for that price. Works the otherway round too so always check the shelf price in case it is cheaper in store.

Actually the bike I bought wasn't the one I went in to buy, so I'd not have been any better off in this case... I understand that prices can go up or down, but given that I'd double-checked with the sales assistant that the price was as stated, the attitude of the manager and his unwillingness to be helpful was very off-putting. It wasn't as if I caused a big scene or was being a complete jerk; I'm well aware how successful that tends to be!

His whole line of approach was "I've decided the prices are going up today and I don't have to sell the bike to you at all if I don't want to" - which may well be true, but isn't generally the way to attract loyal customers...

if you applied for the voucher before the price increase they will honour it. or go for the aluminium version and buy some nice bits for it!

I'm edging towards the alu version.

For Halfords, if you reserve online and collect in store, you get 10% discount.

Not sure if you can use this on C2W though

i thinks its lgf thats talks of halfords bumping the price to make it look like a bargain when on 'sale'
