I can certainly provide some.dan28":1rjekwil said:any info on the amp forks
I bought them as a set of 'working' forks, but when they arrived they were far from as described. Basically one of the linkage bars has been replaced by a bolt, so they are loose and rattly at present. Some of the alu bolts are brittle so will need replacing, one of the v brake mounts has sheared off inside the housing and lastly, the spring pre-load has been replaced by an ill fitting bolt. All these things can be rectified, and I would be doing it myself but I need to shift a lot of stuff. So, in my view you would need:
- Bushing and bolt kit from AMP - still available and I think £25 (I bough a set when I got these forks, but have since got a ti looking set for a build so need to hang on to them)
- Replace the spring preload bolt with a more appropriate one - or not, I have a set of these forks that doesn't even have the hole for one
- Fix thev brake mount - I#m way ahead of you there and have one from a pace fork mount that I think will fit and will include with the forks
So, all in all, you'd need to do a bit of work, but I can say having serviced a set of these before that it is pretty straightforward and required some allen keys, a hammer and a bar slightly smaller than the diameter of the linkage bars to push them out (and one slightly bigger to push them back in again, with the aid of the hammer).
I wanted to get £30 for these, so with the rebuild kit from AMP, and a bit of elbow grease you could have a nice set of AMP forks for £60.
