Bloody cyclists

There used to be a lot of 'approaching from behind' on Hampstead Heath if I remember rightly.

people have right of way, dogs don't. I don't thank people for holding onto their dog. I have a right go at them if they don't. I wheelie and hope to god the loose mutt goes into my chainring. But then I hate dogs. I do slow down for people, young old, and in between, and make sure pedestrians have the right of way. Dogs on one side of path, with lead attached is one of the worst crimes, then no lead, no control.

Re:

I don't Ping to barge my way through, merely to alert them to me being there 15/20 metres or so away :)

And if they want to let the dog walk near my bike knowing I am there then my STX chain-ring and new KMC chain is gonna slice the bugger up

Re:

I just call out "Bike" before I reach them and that usually does the trick-then a "Thank you" as I pass them-Sometimes I'll call out "On your left" or "On your right"-but that has led to confusion on their part occasionally, so I usually don't do that. The one that gets me is when you are approaching someone coming at you with their eyes on the trail instead of looking ahead, like they are the only people out there using the trail- So a loud "Head's Up" seems to work best in that situation, followed by a smile and "Thank you"...

the priority is : wlaker > horse + rider > cyclist.

dogs do not feature in that equation therefore they and their owners do not need acknowledgmenet. personally don't like dogs so don't give a monkeys,

You won't mind then when one bites your bollocks off because it wasn't warned you were coming.

Re:

Personally, any cyclist that doesn't slow down when I am walking my dogs may find themselves in the bushes. Their "rights" don't come into the equation.
Equally , It's no great hardship for me to slow down or stop if a walker has a loose dog.
I realise I'm in a very small minority in that respect, and the comments above reinforce that view.
Very sad...
