Quite merrily cycle to and from work every day through very busy city centre traffic, no easy feat in Edinburgh just now with the horrendous amount of roadworks due to the trams we are supposed to be getting. No incidents, crashes etc with cars, buses, taxis and lunatic pedestrians.

Then tonight on the way home, steaming along a main street enjoying the fact that the guy behind me on the Vespa couldn't keep up when some lunatic on a bike meanders, against the traffic lights, across the crossroads I'm going over. Huge emergency stop by me, I swear there was tyre smoke!

A few choice words sent in his direction once the sound of the women at the zebra crossings screams of terror had subsided as they were convinced they were going to see a horrendous accident.

His reaction, gave me the finger and merrily carried on with his laboured 30rpm cadence.

Git.

His luck will run out one day and hopefully he'll just hurt himself and nobody else!

I often get annoyed at cyclists who ignore the rules of the road and jeopardise the safety of others - this guy might not have been so lucky had it been a car!

Was he wearing a Burberry's cap and have one trackie bottom leg tucked in?
He probably never paid for the bike either

He was actually riding a rather pricey looking Giant road bike.

I think he may have been a "more money than ability" type.

Maybe he was just suffering from lack of oxygen to the brain after having just cycled up Dundas Street on a road bike.
