You'll anger the gods of BIIIGGGG TVs with that. They've smote people for less...

And all there was left was a pair of cycling shoes with smoke drifting up.

Cue the power ballad.

Fade to black.

Why does Europe, The Final Countdown, come to mind.....

(I am feeling smoten....)

I'm just really struggling with the polarisation (is that a word?) of human behaviour I have seen in the last few days - neither myself or anyone I associate with would ever EVER behave like that, it's almost like the emergence of a new breed of media and material possession driven android....

(Yes I don't have a telly but I catch up with the gist of goings on through my ancient lap top....)

I dont know what it is that made me so appalled about those pictures, I cant think of anything that would make me behave like that, except maybe car boot sales or those one day cycle sales that used to be advertised in the back of MBUK...

Aggggh! I need ten pairs of mudguards!

I couldn't look to be honest, seems like another world to me. And I too remember those one day sales.... I went to one in Bristol once. Never again. I mean, Bristol....it's a long way and dangerous and big and everyfink....

Have to say, in the past few years I don't watch anything like as much.

Stuff recorded on the TiVo that I'm interested in, otherwise, I tend to watch stuff on a tablet. Can't say as I watch much live TV at all.

And in fairness to the charcoal Friday thing, well it's not just tellys, I suppose - they're just one of the obvious devices people will go bat-shit crazy over, with the slightest hint they're getting something a bit cheaper.

How did it happen, though, that our supposed love for all things queue related have become so coerced by "globalisation" and wanton consumerism. Yes, yes, yes, I know - that's voodoo economics at play.
Tablet - you rail against the big flat TV buyers/ owners
Some, yes... those that buy them and stick them in rooms where they're too fecking big.

Or those that buy them in a mad dash, and will literally step over / on people to bag themselves a bargain in the onyx-encrusted festival known only as Black Friday. Kings of the western frontier, just a good job normal sheeple in England aren't allowed to carry guns.

Mayhem, I tells you...

You've been framed could take a turn for the dark side, though.

That's really enough with the word play, isn't it...

and you admit you onw a tablet, you have have been coerced by "globalisation" and wanton consumerism and you didnt even know, a victim of the said same marketing that makes people go bat-shit crazy over something they think they should own but are in actual fact a bit shit. Go on, be honest.
I didn't go bat-shit crazy over anything.

Nor did I buy into marketing. I bought one when they were cheap, so I could watch stuff and not have to squint at my phone. As to being a bit shit, well they've always done what I bought them for, and so far, I've always bought them online, so never had to trample somebody half to death in a manufactured, transferred "event", to get one, nor have I felt compelled to boast about the size of their screens in conversation - not that that's ever been a metaphor for anything else...

Your defence of the cause, though, is very touching. Do continue. So far, being honest, it's been a bit like an aging Austin Allegro firing on three, but by all means - if you're determined to take me to task for my diabolical criticism of ebony-Friday-fvckwits - go to it.

You've nailed three of the four P's of marketing right there.

I love the way people claim not to be affected by marketing or advertising. It's always a lie. The fact they believe it just makes it even better, and proves that us marketing people are always many steps ahead of the proles.

Thing is, the last tablet I bought was a cheap, Tesco HUDL refurb from ebay.

Now perhaps I'm blocking it out, or lying to myself, but I don't recall seeing any adverts selling me on the make / model. I bought it because other people in the family have them, and they've been fine, and my existing tablet, at the time, was getting rather long in the tooth, and I was finding it too sluggish for Internet use.

So by all means, claim that as a victory for marketing and advertising, but in that instance, at least, I'm really not seeing it. It's not like I regularly visit an actual Tesco store, or use their website, apart from very occasionally, so I'm just not really getting how the forces of true evil managed to manipulate me into that decision.

It still amazes me we can't say black sheep, black board,
but Black Friday is quite fine.
Who says we can't say black sheep or black board?

Not sure they're regular staples of my lexicon, but all the same, I doubt stormtroopers are going to abseil through my windows if I do dare utter such words.

Re:

you can imagine the families of these telly hungry monsters.

whats for breakfast mum ?
nothing but you can watch jeremy kyle supersized.

The thing that really annoys me is the fact that the police were called to several shops because there weren't adequate security staff.

I really think the police should be able to invoice companies for that. They solicited ridiculous crowds with their advertising.

I don't like the idea that my tax money paid for security that a company like Tesco should have had in place.
