"Mountain Biking" by Max Gaskin & Jeremy Torr, hardback, published in 1988 by Pelham Books. Cover and book in excellent condition.
This is not meant to be a funny book, but you will laugh out loud many times when you read it, and look at the fantastic old skool photos, from 20 years ago.
Includes classic references as :
"Mountain Biking is an exhilarating new activity. Super strong bicycles with extra low gears and fat tyres to take you anywhere"....yes like the one on the cover!!!!
" A complete groupset of components like this Shimano Deore, is not cheap but will ensure that all components work well together, this is particularly important with the new generation indexed gears, and cantilever brakes"....It still not cheap today!!! 20 Years on
"Take a terminal downhill situation, when your weight is well back, and your fighting for control, its better to simply put your feet down, let go of the handlebars, and let the bike rush on uncontrollably without you. If you try to cling on you will probably crash badly with the bike landing on top of you. Nasty".....how true.
Its a must read for any retro bike addict.
