Bikes like marmite?

Surprised no mention of Proflex yet...

myself, I like them, probably more for sentimental reasons than anything.

I hate all GTs, the triple triangle has no benefit whatsoever and is just a marketing gimmick, in fact I think I saw an article in MBAction BITD that proved that the triple triangle design was three times heavier than a standard frame and half as stiff. It went on to prove that the design causes infertility in its riders.

Konas eat poo, especially the splatter painted ones. I know for a fact that the extra paint involved weight 7 times more than a normal paintjob and the extra lead in the extra paint causes brain tumors.

XTR M900 sucks the fat one, its too light, too pretty and too expensive. All bikes should have Deore at best, in fact all bikes should be singlespeed....

...Bikes with gears are for wimps. Real men ride singlespeeds and if you don't have one, you're probably a purveyor of man love. Its a fact that riding singlespeeds makes you a better lover. Scientists have proven that men with knees that click when they bend over are more sexually attractive to women.

Lightweight bike components are for girls who need lighter bikes because they have no leg muscles. Real bikes are made out of steel. Steel is real. Steel might rust and need a layer of heavy paint over it to stop it falling apart but that doesn't matter because thats what the first bikes were made out of and thats what bikes should continue to be made from... Progress is bad. Fear change.

Oooooh… off topic but I've just noticed I've made it to Retro Guru status (250+ posts)

Seems like a very small number compared to most on here, but something of a landmark. Thanks to everyone who's responded to posts I've made (with the obvious exception of the anti-gt fascist movement – you know who you are, Pickle and I have our eyes on you), and all those who've pried copious quantities of cash from my fingers in exchange for shiny objects.

Most importantly, thanks to Retrobike.co.uk for reviving so many great memories that have laid buried in my mind for a decade or more 8)

Everyone must hate me then... I sold my Kona ('98 U'hu) frame and swapped al the bits onto a Trek ('98 Y-33). AND I own a Gary Fisher (pre Trek at least!). Never owned a GT but wanted to was very close to buying a '94 Edge on eBay a few weeks ago but just couldn't rationalise a 3rd roadie .

Only bike I've never had a fondness for are Giant bikes... probably because here in Oz, in the '90s anyway, they were a common as muck and everyone thought they were absolutely fantastic which IMO they're not - they're not bad or anything they're just not as fantastic and the great unwashed seemed to think.

You want ugly, I'll give you ugly

I hate this bike more than I could ever put into words, in fact I now feel the need to poke my eyes out with hypodermic needles.

It is without doubt the fugliest bike I have ever seen & it squeals like a field of pigs being buggered by the tin man who has gone a bit rusty & creaks like that window that's always left open in horror films.
