bike stands

OK I need some advice, has anybody got any recommendations for bike stands not sure about the 'Sheffield' type as personally I have had a bike damaged on one when it slipped.
Are there other types thinking of the ones where you put your back wheel in a 'slot', the information is for a non internaet savvy colleague who intends to get some fitted locally in the community.

Wheel in a slot are a disaster - bends the rim if roughly handled, and nowhere to lock the bike to. Even if you have a chain through the loops, the loops are easily cut.

Sheffield are best - the only one where thieves cannot attack the stand easily. Make sure that you get the plastic coated ones.
