Bike insurance

We've probably had this on here before but....

I have reciently had a bike stolen form my shed (among other things) the bike in question (sory not retro) was a DH bike valued at £2200. AXA said that i was not covered for bike theft, even when i phoned to check my policy when i took it out and asked if i'm covered and they said yes.
It turns out it wasn't covered but they have admited they mis-sold me the policy and are paying out..phew

The problem i have is i could have got the extra 'cycle cover' but that would only cover me up to £1000 (ok for some of my bikes) but ALL the bikes would be covered in an event of a fire for example! But my concern is i have, like many others on here, bikes that can't be replaced by going to your LBS.

My question (sorry i went round the houses to get here!) is what have other people got in place to cover your bikes (new and retro). If you have made a claim for an retro ride how did you go about replacing it.

The other thing i would like to say is PLEASE PLEASE check your contents policy and see if your bikes are covered for THEFT, dont make the mistake of asuming they are. The small print will reveal all!!!!

I'm not sure about cover for my CB, the Kula and the wifes Trek are both named items that are covered but how would I replace something only 1 other person on here has seen an example of? Was tempted to ask for cover for £1000 which was the new purchase price as at least if it was stolen I could afford to replace it with an Attitude or something exoctic if not as rare.
Still it would not cover the loss of something I have had so long.

Marks and Spencers premier home and contents insurance.
Clicky, linky thing.

Any item covered unlisted up to (I think) £5k per item on my policy, though it may have moved to "unlimited". Including worldwide damage and theft, and also covering property of visitors to my house.

the premium is a little higher than others, but they happily cover my collection of bikes.
