With buying an ebike, I think it prudent to get it insured against damage or theft.
Who has what and what is it costing you approximately. Home insurance only goes up to £1000 and the bikes 5x that.

Change home insurers?

Mine will cover any bike up to £350 without knowing what it is.....over that send them a schedule each year with a list of bikes and replacement values. They then calculate the additional premium new for old ( or the closest new comparative model available).

The premium is only £68 on the household for all the family's bikes this year.

Just 1 bike on a separate policy i was quoted over a £100!

Halifax will cover a single bike upto £5k and £10k in total on bikes. Premium only jump up fractionally so this is the cheapest method. Make sure you tick the box for damage/theft away from home too.

AA also do the same cover and were cheaper overall (well they were) but stopped insuring expensive watches past a certain point so I had to move to Halifax about 3 years ago.

My home insurance is under £95 a year. I've been with them forever and feel ive a very good deal at the incredibly small price im paying. I did phone another about 6 years ago and got a quote that was more than twice that, which was with only £1000 bike.

I'll look into Halifax, but I was hoping for a bike secific company like pedalsure.

You’ve got to be realistic on what you are expecting to pay though. Your premium will be more of course than £95.

Pedal bikes are the No.1 stolen item. You are about to ask them to insure a £5k one and not many places will do such a thing. So it’s priced accordingly. And to be honest I feel it’s still cheap.

Best way is to get a quote from a bike specific stand alone policy. That will knock you off your chair and then the £200-£250 (in total )Halifax want to insure it will seem fair

£5K bike I dont really have much choice, cant afford to replace that off the bat should anything happen.
Not really a case of they have me over their barrel, I'm supplying the barrel

I'll look into other home insurance or give my current one a phone and see what they say. I've just had the renewal in(typically) so thats bound to cause an upset. Might have to find an individual bike orientated insurers like cycleguard or cycleplan, though both specify a level of lock should it be used or locked up outside. Though there im looking as 'sold secure' insurance approved locks, which arent cheap, but again at £5K you got to cut your cloth so to speak.
