Bike I picked up for my dad

Chicane

Retro Newbie
Hello, 1st post, collected this yesterday for my 80 year old dad (he will be riding it only in dry sunny conditions), not sure I've ever seen him so excited! Could someone give us some idea of age or heritage? He was aware of Ernie Clements which is what led him to look at this. Also the saddle looks out of place could you advise of a suitable replacement going off the age of the bike? Many thanks Matt IMG_20210807_165012.webp

Hi Chicane, a brown Brooks saddle would be great for the Falcon and your Dads comfort. I personally would struggle on any climbs with the small cogs on the rear freewheel, they look best suited to TT riding. Cheers Bill.

I ride mostly mtb so its the smallest cassette I think I've ever seen, did think Brooks would fit the bill, thanks for replying.

Yup, a tan Brooks B17 would suit it perfectly. As for the gears, yes it might be more useable with a wider ratio block and maybe a Shimano indexed rear mech & levers. It would make it a lot easier to ride.
ps, my guess is late 80’s or early 90’s but that’s just a guess…
