Do you know if many Bickertons were sold in Australia? When I lived in Melbourne I met a chap on one near Essendon airfield. He used to keep it in his light aeroplane.

I think there's a Sydneyside Retrobike member with one as well...

Not sure how many were sold here, they were made under license i think. The one I have is from the UK it has the Solihull MV ID plaque underneath. As regards the one you saw in Essendon, he gets his serviced at my local bike shop along with some salty old fella who keeps his on his boat!

Nearly finished my Bickerton, just waiting for my new tyres and shes done.

Very very nice
amazingly nice in fact
but that saddle concerns me somewhat :? are you sure its safe

Its safe as houses fella! Its pretty thick walled aluminium, besides i'm a bit of a whippet so it isn't under much stress. You can't really monster these bikes you have to ride them with finesse or the flex will throw you off!

Would look good painted :D

Guess I should weigh in here, with the first of my own paint jobs. This was intended for semi-camouflage discretion while wild camping abroad, rather than for appearance per se. Later incarnations went for a deeper green overall.

A newer incarnation, a few years later circa 1985, in the Sinai, Egypt.
