Bianchi ID?

Anybody know if this sweet looking bike is a Bianchi, late 60's maybe?

Obvious repaint and mixed up build.

Thanks!

Re:

Looking (and potentially purchasing) this bike today.

From what I gather from hours of research the integrated headset design was generally from the 60's, but the bb shell is far later. The winged "C" TM's and used in the late 70's? I haven't been able to find a late 70's Bianchi with this headset design.

Now i'm worried that the bb shell has been replaced. Seller claims the frame has been repainted so that makes sense, plus it has somewhat later brakes and wheels.

If anybody has other ideas i'd love to hear them.

Looks like they used a Cinelli bottom bracket shell when building the frame.

The bottom bracket shell is what has me confused. I've read that Cinelli trademarked the winged "C" in 1978 so I would think that would date the shell '78 or later.

Because of the placement of the serial number i'm assuming the frame dates to 1970, only because of the zero and because I can't find any other Bianchi's from the late 70's with the integrated headset. So my assumption is that the bb shell has been replaced, but that is just an assumption and a huge job for a framebuilder.

In any case it's a beautiful bike with a mix of nice parts. Nuovo Record drivetrain, 1st gen Dura Ace brakes and levers, Cinelli bars/stem. Wheels are neat with a Bianchi front hub (steel center, allow flanges), NR rear. Zeus seatpost.

My plan for the bike is swap out the brakes, seatpost for NR, find a proper seat and some reproduction decals.

If anybody has advice on model name or dates i'd love to hear them. I'm at a complete loss on both of these.

Thanks!

Re:

I'm not sure and serial numbers can be a minefield. 2 could be the year or montth as with 7. 70 a production number??? First thing with a google check and 1962 Bianchi similar looking to yours came up. Seat stay tops, lugs. Bottom bracket could have been replaced. Sure there must be a Bianchi expert on here.

I could always find the brakes a good home :)

Brakes are in fantastic shape! Levers are especially nice....

One more strange addition, it has bosses for 2 water bottles (down and seat tubes). I'm guessing these could have been added as well.

My biggest quandry is general age and model, so when I locate decals I will at least be close to original.

Re:

...and now I have a new project.

Until a somebody corrects me i'm going with a 1970 Bianchi, maybe Specialissima.

I feel confident that the bb shell was replaced sometime after 1978 (given the winged "C"), water bottle bosses were probably added at that time, then repainted. The work around the bb shell isn't nearly as nice as the rest of the frame, bit of a shame really.

In any case it's a lovely bike to look at and will be a fun rebuild, aside from the headset of course...

Re:

Looks like the fun begins! I'm wondering an older frame with upgrades possibly. This is a 1962 one and looks similar.
