Whats the rattle can paint to respray my bomber fork??

And where and best price??

Any help on this and doing it guys and gals that be great thanks

I don't know much about this but I did do my own forks and they still look good.
First, if you want to recreate the original colour, you will need the RAL code. This code basically determines the colour so is important. For my Saracen I didn't know it so after trying Halfords, (colour matching by highly trained and motivated technicians was a advertising blitz on the television at the time), and being faced with an idiot spotty yoof with an IQ of around 19.5 I went to a small independant paint shop. I left the frame withthem and 3 days later had the RAL code and two tins of spray paint for barely more money than off the shelf tins at Halfords.

Second, I'm guessing your Bombers won't be steel but aluminium or magnesium? You are going to need a specialist etch primer or the paint won't stick.

Third, three or four thin coats are much better than one thick one.

Forth, flatting with very fine wet and dry is important.

Lacquer over the top of the paint.

Cook at a low temperature in your (electric?) oven for a harder finish.

It won't be as stron as professional paint though.

Poundland have primer and black finish coat rattlecans at, yes, £1 each. Ive done a whole bike in it and it was ok. not particularly tough, but good for the price.

So I need to use the oven   The wife going to go nuts

Any paint on eBay any good as got some paypal funds that could use?

Thanks for help with this

i have used the poundland paint and to be honest i thought it was really bad. but it was a pound!

if you don't need an exact colour have a look at graffiti paint. Not used it personally but know a few who have had great results. look out for montana cans - market leader as far as i have been told. The benefit of graf paint is the nozzles are really good. its more expensive buy worth it by all accounts.

another tip is to make sure the can and fork are warm and shake for ages. give it a shake every now and again once you shart too.

you dont have to put them in the oven but it will toughtn up the paint.

you could probably get them powder coated for less than the price of cans though?

Did think about powder coat , but don't want to take forks apart , so best spraying myself

The forks are for my sex too 1995, just need to think what colour. think black be best

bombers come apart easily nad there are no bushings left in them or anything to worry about. Probably better to spray them apart anyway or at least with the dust seals out.

Gives you a chance to service them at the same time ;) Fresh oil is much better than a spray job.
