What is it?

Park?
Haynes?
Zinn and the blah de blah?
Or something else?

I'm putting my xmas list together you see...

Haynes needs an update as it doesn't cover disc brakes or outboard b/bs and hollowtech2 (so fine if you are retro) apparently it now does so also a good choice

personally the Park blue book is the way to go imho

;]

i have the retro yellow haynes one, did me to get into mtb :) alot was self taught or learnt from my dad though

Anything not written by Sturmey Archer.

If you're an absolute beginner, Richard's Bicycle Book has good general instructions. But beyond that, I think SRAM and Shimano's instructions for specific parts are very useful. Anything that covers a lot of equipment with good instructions is quite unweildy, IME.

Retrobike.

If you can't find the answer, post the question and you'll get 101 responses as to how you should proceed, they'll all be different but you will have 101 answers.

The new Haynes one with the orange cover has hollowtech II and external BBs there's even the XTR BB with the weird twisty collar to preload the bearings covered.

Could do with an advanced maintenance book for those of us that have been tinkering for years

No wifi reception in the shed!!!!

I can handle most things but its nice having something to refer back to, and then ultimately blame when it doesn't work anyway....
