No drama I was going to reply earlier but thought I might look like I was taking the piss


It's not as bad as you might think, over time you can train your brain to guesstimate (I passed my car driving test after I lost my left eye) although I do struggle with judging distances on close items and sometimes drop a glass or a mug etc.
With all that being said I still won't take my bike near a road, cos I know I'll end up as a statistic

Apologies, I should have been more thoughtful with my comment. My only reference is to when I had a black eye years ago and my eye closed up. I was all over the place. That was only temporary of course, so I had no real time to adjust.

No please don't be like that, Im not sensitive at all.. during the short term like a closed eye injury it is very disorientating but the brain does adapt fairly quickly.
For example if you close one eye you will most likely see the shadow of your nose, my brain has tuned it out ignores the nose and now pays more attention to the areas that it would normally ignore due to stereoscopic (2 eyed vision) overlaps as a result my field of view side to side is almost as good as yours.
but you nailed it depth is crap as I can only see in a straight line

My buddy had one of these a Super Tuff Burner MK2, which he still goes on about all the bloomin time. He always wanted some of those Z-rims that flex but never got them. He dragged his poor mum around all the shops for one in those colours and that spec, lots said they could get one in but being a kid he needed to leave with it that day.



Me and our kid both got new Burners one Christmas but weren't really fussed about them most of our bikes were used, they went out of their way and probably parted with a fair bit of cash and we were not really fussed. Don't think I got a brand new bike off them ever again and can't blame them at all, bloomin kids. Ours were the blue and yellow.

I think the reason why I personally like so many of these older bikes (apart from the colours) I think the thin tube frames adds a certain lightweight and sleek look to them, whereas I find the much larger diameter down tubes and slightly larger top tubes (don't want to be fat shaming frames) on more recent bikes quite unappealing visually.
Disclaimer, Im definitely not trying to start an old vs new debate here folks Im just saying what I like about these old bikes and what best means to me
