Best bike ever!

My mate Paul had a younger brother (who's name escapes me) who had one of these. He used to race us, he'd pedal furiously and we thought it was great he was involved and actively encouraged him to ride as hard as he could. We were both around 14-15
It was great all good fun until one day he got a speed wobble and crashed into a hedge that overhung the pavement, which spat him off the bike and ground him along said pavement. He was ok, well shaken up. We were not allowed to ride with him after that:rolleyes: I do remember his was a lime green sort of colour though.

Lime green Strika - bestest colour I reckon and bang-on period.

Here's little me on a very new Strika (brand new colour that year) trying to jump and failing badly in my parents garden! 🤪

That thing that musty have weighed more than me!!!

I so wanted a Chopper and then a BMX, but they were all too big so my parents got me a Strika instead and that looks WAY too big too! BMX style numberplate was fitted so it felt more like a BMX and look at the stupid angle of those brake levers. Not that pulling on them actually did much... 🤣

That is cool Tim! I've hardly any early bike pictures.

Me too. Just a handful sadly. None of my first mountain bike whatsoever which got me totally hooked on MTBing and then lots of blurred photos of me racing on my next MTB.

My dad had a SLR, but no idea how to use it properly. It has no window on the back of the body that would show the details of the film (No. of exposures/film speed) so lots of times he'd use it and there was no film inside!!! 🤪 The winding mechanism was so stiff you could never tell if there was a film in it or not. 🤷‍♂️

Forgot all abut the Strika, great picture @27motorhead
That is the same saddle that our kid put on his Grifter and Commando.

Wish I had more pictures of my bicycles and motorcycles, it doesn't make sense that I have some old pictures of some and pictures of the newer ones but either didn't take or have lost so many.

Yep the Boxer (small Grifter), Strika and Grifter all shared the same saddle design. As you mentioned so did the Commando, but originally it had the longer Chopper style saddle with mini sissy bar.
