Is that it ! he got off lightly, whereas my cousin this weekend was beaten up by teens high on drugs, he a self employed sole business owner, cannot see through one of his eyes, reckoned to be knackered for the future and he a successful carpenter as well. All he was doing was minding his own business and I was there trying to stop his dog from defending its owner, knowing full well a dog when it attacks and a dingo at that will possibly in this society end up in the dogs destruction as dogs biting humans it seems is all the rage. But the police are involved and names and addresses have been found, maybe the charge will be GBH if not attempted murder. I have been here before on this, and that also was people on drugs and their variable and there unpredictable behaviour.

Something about your family then silverbores,you...and now your brother.....what do you do to people exactly,no one gets a slap for nothing

Marin-man stop trying to get a rise, it puts threads off topic and adds to the clutter, statements like that aimed at people you don't know only add to the aggravation on the site and it is un-called for. If you don't like someones statements just ignore them.

Funny how you tell me about going off topic when the post I replied was off topic   I dont want a rise from anyone, perhaps that is why you felt the need to pick my up again

May be Max Mosley paid them.

Wouldn't be the first time Max had paid good money for someone to dish out a beating. Allegedly.

Back on topic, +1 to the comments already posted; I'm no great fan of Ecclestone but he certainly did not deserve this.

Marin Man, I don't you or your history, nor in what circles you move or have moved, but perhaps it is wise to educate you as to some of the truths about individuals that go out, tank up and blithely take recreational drugs. When a person who is under the influence of mind altering substances the motive for anything becomes very unclear. It happened to me in 2004, and my assailants were high on coke and vodka, the reason for the attack, they were bored whilst waiting for a taxi on a saturday night after being ejected from a family party for being aggressive and argumentative with other guests. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time that is all.

But the situation with my cousin, not my brother as I do not have a brother, well, myself, he and his partner were walking home with the dingo after a beer festival in our local pub and happened to meet a person whom we did not know, but had been friendly to both us and the dog in the pub, one second he was I love you I love you man and the next he had the strength of ten men as he launched at my cousin and with that five of his similarly mind altered friends joined in like a pack of animals, beat my cousin to the ground and kicked and ground their heels into his face with my cousin's partner tearing at the uncontrollable monsters that seemed intent on killing her love, as when he was down and unconscious they continued with their assault until the sound of police sirens broke into their minds and they ran.

Me, I couldn't do anything, my vision was blurring as I was reliving what happened to myself, I was experiencing the very same thing again, but this time watching it happen to a member of my family and I could do nothing to stop it.

Due to my own experiences and now that reinforced by this week end, I have zero tolerance for drugs and drug users, for they are a blight on civilised society. Excessive drink depending on the person can be a problem, but mind altering substances, recreational drugs they are something far worse as predictability goes out of the window and with that the primitive pack mind takes over.

And so we hear of heroin users in hospital suffering because of a blight that has affected the opium crop, causing the cut of the dope to be even worse adulterated,it is affecting the addicts badly, Well, I usually have compassion for sufferers but no, not in this instance, I cannot find any, for people who take drugs for their own selfish desires and bollocks to all others, I believe deserve everything that comes to them, a painful death even if that is the price for their stupidity.

But as to Bernie Ecclestone, I still retain he was a fool for his actions and foolish for his visions of society, but thinking of what was stolen, you can bet your bottom dollar, drugs is in it somewhere as all crime now just seems to have that link, crimes done on or for the benefit of drugs.

I read:

"Pitty me and my cousin because we're lower class and didn't ask or deserve what we got, but that Bernie guy is rich, so screw him, he got what was coming. Serves him right"

Pathetic.

Well on the other hand...

I'll start my reply saying that I've got sympathy for Bernie (and he does remind me a little of Bernie from Weekend at Bernies... ;-)), nobody, 80 year old, rich, poor, or otherwise, deserves that.

That said, when Jenson Button was almost kidnapped, a certain quote by a certain Bernie was a little, well, uncaring, to say the least. And with that in mind, you do have to wonder what a billionaire, with apparently around 200k of jewelry either on him or somebody with him, was doing wandering around without some kind of (effective) protection / bodyguard.

I mean, if you read / listen to Bernie's comment on the attempted kidnapping / attack on JB, then consider the situation Bernie was in and what got nicked - it is a little difficult to reconcile.

You'll get no argument from me on those points Neil. If you look back, I was the one who posted said quote from Bernie re the JB/Brazil incident. One only has to be a casual follower of the sport to realize virtually every quote in the press from him is inflammatory. He's a bitter, vindictive man with a let them eat cake attitude, and I'm in the camp of people who would have preferred FOM had never seized control of Formula One. That said, it sickens me to see the same people in here using his mugging as just another example to promote their twisted views on how anyone with a few bucks in their pocket, or has made a go of it creating a business and employing people is evil and deserves to be stripped of their gains (while they are conveniently sitting on their arses doing nothing).
