BB question Cups to Cartridge

Morning All,

I am in a dilema where I need to replace bottom bracket from convensional cup and axle to a cartrige type  .

The current BB is a shimano one which has pitted as they all seem to. The number on the axle is D-3NL and measures 123 accross. Its running in a 67mm frame.

Does anyone know which cartridge to to use to get the correct spacing. I can happily provide pics or more dims etc

cheers

Cant help with the exact cartridge, but had the same problem yesterday, changing because of pitted cones . Took my LBS 30 secnds to match up a suitable sealed cartridge. Width was 1mm short but as near as makes no difference. Depends on quality of LBS, though.

Roger that Gravy, I paid £16.99 from the LBS, priced at £14.99 best price on-line, so not too much in it. Must say, was reluctant as I liked the thought of using original components. However, with the modern sealed unit, peddaling feels so smooth again, after putting up with a sub-standard BB for a while.

I assume this is square taper ? If so Shimano UN72 (68x122mm) is a good choice (if you can find one, as they are discontinued).

I had a NOS one lying around here that you'd have been welcome to, but only a couple of days ago I gave it to a mate of mine for his Orange Prestige  .

Problem sorted, went to LBS and bought a BB-UN54 68 / 122 job done

I even stumbled on some reto gold there which has fitted my Saracen plan perfectly!

so not such a bad trip to the LBS after all 8)
