bassets and beagles..

Gibble, get thee to a rescue place, and get a known child friendly hound, a known quantity that will be predictable and loving. Don't be part of the perpetuation of dog breeding that should be much more strictly controlled.

£20 a month will insure your hound, and if you really want a pedigree they are plentiful in supply needing rehoming as well.

I have had Ridgebacks, Weimaraners, Danes, Dalmatians, all as rescues and mature, healthy dogs.

No need nor reason to go to breeders.

:)

GK - what you've said below is an example of a pretty Fooked Oop establishment :?

Tell the RSPCA of your experience and go to a proper (RSPCA?) place and see their dogs.

Actually quite shocked by what you have said, but it does happen a lot    B'stards.

well last night was odd...we made the meeting with the dog owner on time...the dog seemed to be clean and well behaved...the owner stated she had to advertise to sell the last dog and was having a bitof trouble with previous potential buyers...i asked to see the parents of the dog out the back...the yard was covered in dog excrement and the mother was thin as a rake but otherwise happy..at this point i asked for any papers for the dog to wit she said they didnt have any..feeling a little cautios i told her that we would go for a quick walk to talk about the dog just to make sure we werent making a mistake...we were sat opposite the house when she came out gestured rudley at me...i began to walk over to let her know we were coming over to confirm when she yelled that she wasnt impressed and slammmed the door on me.!im not sure what to think really ...we both went home not knowing what really happened..

i agree it was an odd situation...the trip home was so quiet ...we just didnt know what to say about it,,,we have been researching a lot and we have come to the conclusion that a proper farm where dogs are roaming around in green grass with lots of play space is important.......ive been talking to http://www.k9puppy.co.uk/PuppiesforSale ... 18624.aspx

and next week im off to go and see them for advice and see what they are like..i cant go the rspca route as i have small children and need to be able to trust the dog is trained well.(hope that makes sense)..if it was just me id go that way but the wife is at home all the time so she dictates the choice..

I wouldn't trust the RSPCA as far as I could throw them.. for anything.

If you look at a collie, make sure it's a long coat bitch. Especially if it's a pup.
And be prepared for your life to revolve around keeping it entertained.

Think about nature and nurture.. some behaviours can be overcome (usually masked) by training and conditioning (nurture) but, ultimately, it's a dog of x type and will inevitably revert to type, often at a very inconvenient, inappropriate or even dangerous moment (nature).

And be wary of dogs from farms.. stronger, healthier, happier (in general) but also come from generations of working animals and that nature can be hard work in a domestic environment.

The RSPCA get pups in as well.

The training will be down to you, as you are getting a pup. All you are really going to know is that the parents are good natured.

A mature dog that comes from a family environment, that has lived around kids, would be much safer than a growing puppy from any source.

Each to their own, I personally think dog breeding for profit should be stopped until such times as the dog population is under control in the UK.

Not many put in as much thought as you obviously are before making the decision.

FWIW I would go to a breeder that specialises in just one breed.

Dog breeding for profit, imo, should be stopped.. period.. and monitored/regulated at all times..

Bit of an impossible task in reality though, sadly...

mine will be loved and cared for ...she /he will get played with and tickled ....and spoilt a little every day ...theres going to be fun on the beaches, runs in the woods,a riot at bath time and chaos at christmas...

i just cant come up with a name yet

although ming the merciless has replaced general zod at the top of the choices....

Dude.. your going to take advice from someone who breeds all this??

West Highland Terriers (Westies)
▪ Poodles
▪ Scottish Terriers (Scotties)
▪ Beagles
▪ Miniature Schnauzer
▪ Shihtzu’s
▪ Yorkshire Terriers
▪ Bassets
▪ Pomeranians
▪ Cocker Spaniels
▪ Labradoodles
▪ Various cross breeds

With a surname of Swindles? Sorry.. Swindells....
And £500 for a puppy nearly 4 months old is way too much..

If you want a Beagle, contact these http://beagleassociation.org.uk/ or a similar group... puppy farmers are not the way forward.
