So

Has anyone any idea how much a wire/bank transfer to germany would cost..and also any import duties would be payable on a item under £ 200.00 ..


Is it a matter of just going into my bank and asking to transfer the dosh..

Your help would be appreciated ...

afaik the UK belongs to the EU (althoug they still use the wrong currency and drive on the wrong side ) so there should be no import duties. there have been a few threads on the money transfer topic. if everything else fails there might be some germans here who have paypal and might be able to help out...

I got a £9 each end quote from H*BC, on a 25 euro item :roll: . Web based transfering gubbins are complicated for an eejit like me and I found the German IBAN, sort code stuff confusing.
In the end i contacted the guys I'd won items from to ask if they would take Paypal if I paid the fees. 'No probs you English Pig came the reply' and I now have a bucket full of shiny NOS XTR900 stuff trundling through the british postal service at the speed of a geriatric glacier.

We get stitched up on IBAN transfers here in the UK.

In the past when i've won an ebay auction and paypal isn't listed I've either sent cash registered post or asked the seller if they'll take paypal and i pay the fees...

Have tried offering the seller to pay all his charges but hes not having it... so its wired bank transfer.cash on collection or nowt...

All I can say is 'dont mention the war'
