I'm not sorry in saying thats possibly the worst cobbled together bits I've ever seen!

Unfortunately what takes about 30 seconds of spannering takes about 3000 words of explanation.

Heres how those concave washers work for the rear brake:

Dont be afraid of drilling but if you are, theres nutted brakes available, you'll have to check the drop

Has the scooped washer backing up to the caliper got serrations?it should have to prevent the caliper moving around

Evening chaps.

I wanted to revisit this post tonight to give something back to the community.

Firstly my brakes are finally installed. I didn't have to do anything extreme like drill anything or sell my calipers and buy new ones, all I needed was some correct washers and a 70mm brake caliper bolt conversion.

I have taken pics and part numbers which I hope will go to help any newbies like myself who didn't have a clue what to do.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help in this tread and for guiding and educating me so I could make this work, I really appreciate it, more than you know :)

Got my chainset installed this evening, all I need now is a seat post, braze on clamp, cables and outers, pedals, bar tape and a wheel set and she will be ready to roll 8) so about another 500 quid then

Re:

Gotta love SJS Cycles, the bits and pieces they have is amazing.

Bar tape, now that is going to be the tough bit. Youtube is your friend.

Yep dunno what we'd do without SJS.

lol I put some bar tape on today just to stop the twang of metal bars on freshly lacquered frame when on the bike stand, I'll replace for something proper as my last job before I hit the streets 8)

Ohh cheers Pat, I will check both those out, thanks :D

I get the feeling this is going to be one very pretty bike when finished.

I vote for black on the bar tape as well, easier to keep clean.

The best advice I can give on it is keep it taught when winding it on and think about the next couple of winds as you go so that you get it uniform around the brake levers. Do it enough and it becomes second. When I got back into cycling the first one was quite frustrating but it soon came back to me.

Re:

Black fizik tape in old school perforated looks the best. Check out the gran sport below.

Cheers guys :)

I wrapped them yesterday just to save any knocks to the paint, I've never had a problem wrapping bars. Only done it 3 times mind but if you take your time I guess it's not rocket science this one, even I can do it

Now wrapping my aero bars, that's a whole new level
