Badly listed & perhaps dodgy Lava Dome

I also find it strange that you cannot read the 'Lavadome' on top tube, looked worn away there.

this looks like a 91 , Looks pretty tidy too, My Brother had one BITD new and he was the 1st to have one from Johns Bikes in Bath. It had a 500LX groupset with the new SG round chainset which was shimano's replacement over Biopace. It was a top ride but got pinched

Anthony, you must have typed that as I typed my last post ! You are the Kona Date Guru, I must have this new date remembering issue also but not so far gone

looks the right shade to be a Lavadome, nice Mani 1's,but were they really £1200 with an LX groupo,i remember paying about £550 for my purple Lavadome

I must admit I was guessing 92 from what he said, as I actually don't know how to tell the 91 and 92 Lava Domes apart, as the paint seems more or less identical. I think TallPaul knows, but I can't remember what he said the difference was.

The difference between 1991 and 1992 bikes is the seatpost clamp, on the 1991 will have a clamp welded in the frame, all you need a bolt or hand lever for it while the 1992 have a seat post clamp that you can take it off just like the rest of Kona's onwards, both 91 and 92 have same colours, it's just the seatpost clamp is different.
