Badged Trek or Gary Fisher

I just saved a 95 Gary Fisher from recycling, which has got me thinking when is a Gary fisher classed as having had the man's input and when is it just a badged generic bike?

I have a 97/98 set up as a pub bike and it rides really well.

Although Trek bought Gary Fisher's company in 1993, it still operated as an independent brand, led by GF until 2010\11 and Gary Fisher himself worked for Trek after 2011, when the bikes became branded Trek Gary Fisher Collection. He probably had a lot less to do with them from 2011 onwards.
