I never park in disabled bays or parent n toddler, that is actually causing someone a problem. However I always straddle two spaces at the rear of a car park, tough 
I've had every car I've ever owned dented by people parking next to me and opening the doors. They don't value their car and I value mine highly. I've had fights with people, I've had to damage their car back etc etc, it is just easier to take two an avoid the hassle
The other half doesn't like to come out with me sometimes as I drive to the top of empty multi stories, park the arse end of town, anything so I am not near anybody. I wish people could take care..
Pavement straddling sucks, all round my estate everyone has space and/or a garage but they bloody converted it into a room or gym or its just full of sh!t leaving all the cars on the road. I bloody hate it, super dangerous to kids who just pop out from behind a van etc.
