I was out with the usual suspects for our Sunday morning ride, doing OK. After some 20km I actually lead the pack onto a little wooden track over a swampy bit. Just a little too enthousiastic it turned out ....

I slid on the wet wooden planks and bombed onto the surface, ouch  ! So far all as per normal. Except this time I managed to get my left hand caught between two planks of the track. @#^|& my 200 lbs frame was still doing 10 kph and induced a bend in my fingers not intended by mother nature.

I immediately knew this was all wrong, felt no pain at first but just cursed myself for being an a@#e. Strong nausea coming up then informed me my body had picked up on this too and was responding. Being off road there was not much else to do except take off the wedding ring and fixate the mangled bits with some gaffer tape. We rode back some 10k onehanded before the car we sent for picked me up. Interestingly there was very little swelling during this part of the saga.

To cut a longer story short, ER confirmed 2 broken digits nr 3 and 4 just in front of the nuckle, even closer then where a ring would be. They pulled them (traction they call it), set it , plastered it, checked it, took the paster off, re-set it  , plastered it again and here I am typing one handed. And my hand in the plaster/mitella is definitely wanting to swell now.

So why this thread? Well, sharing and looking for advise I guess: No biking for how long? any experience out there?

And Brufen and Balvenie, do they go well together?

Balvenie is the best medicine, skip the artificial rubbish  Happen to share a bottle with Melvin and Ed(edwards) last night.
Seriously now... I wish you all the best and many of us have shared this frustration you have once (or more)
Get well soon, and buy bikes in the meantime

Thanks and slainte

I'm in Schoorl for the holidays this week,
I think I'll have to bring lot's of medicine.
