Avoiding the British GP

Driving from Warwick down to Bike Radar Saturday. Guess the roads round Silverstone might be chokka. Any ideas if this'll block the M40 / M1 too??

I've not been to the GP in the last couple of years but since they sorted the roads out for people getting in we never really had to much traffic getting in... It's getting out you'll get the worst jams and it's best to avoid.

You're probably better off going thru Southam, down to Banbury and then the M40 (will only be one junction and you're past it.... )

Yeah, not sure whetehr I'll go M40 or M1. Normally get onto the M40 at Gaydon (as it were). That was my query really, will the M40 be at a standstill on saturday morning or flowing ok?

M40 shouldn't be horrendously bad, and neither should the M1, the big problem is the connecting road (A43) which is due to be closed Eastbound beyond Silverstone to the M1...... Not sure if it's closed on just Sunday, or tomorrow as well....

It will be fine Guv. They have it pretty well sorted nowadays. It took our boys less than an hour from paddock to three figures on the motorway on sunday. The roundabouts on the A43 can be the worst bit but they have traffic cops 'helping out' at peak times.
The other alternative is to use the back lanes and park at Whittlebury Hall and then cycle over the field- we do this for the LMS races evey year. Good campsite too if you want to make a weekend of it.
