Avid V's spring tension screw

I bought a set off avid sd7's off a guy on here but one set didn't have the spring tension screws. Just when I thought I had wasted my money he very kindly gave me a full refund! So thank you to him!
So my search now begins, to see if I can still use them. I know it is possible to bend the springs but I really don't want to do that.
I went to my LBS to see if they had any screws lying around but they didn't have any at the time. He said they strip bikes down every so often so I should check back in another time. The point here is he did have a couple of screws but they didn't fit. He said there are a couple of different sizes for this sort of thing. I didn't ask and didn't take much notice but I think when he was trying them they seemed to big.
So, part 2. My bro has a box of screws etc and I was surprised to find some small enough in there that seemed to be ok. They were in fact a perfect fit, almost! I thought they were snuggly fitting but they werent going in as I turned, I put a bit of pressure on them and they just slipped in (not easily). I also tried some spring tension screws from my deore set that I was taking off the bike. Same thing again. Seemingly a good fit to begin with but then they weren't actually screwing in, just pushing in.
So, this leaves me with two conclusions. I haven't got the right screws yet, if so, if anyone out there knows where I can get my hands on some it would be greatly appreciated (may have to get a cheapo, battered set of sd3's as I assume they have the rights screws). The second conclusion is that the threads are gone. But they certainly seem to be fine. Visibly they all seem to be there so hopefully that's not the problem. And as I'm writing this I've realised I can try the spring tension screws from the other set of brakes the guy gave me! Duh! But if they do turn out to be fine then I would still appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction of some replacement screws. Or if they have an old set of SD3's lying around or something then maybe we could come to some kind of deal.
Any help greatly appreciated!

pcitures and measurement of the screws (if you find something to fit) would be useful.

Are they the grub type? Pretty much any screw you like can be found on ebay if you know the type and measurements.

sounds like you're in need of grub screws. but as above, pictures of what you are referring to would help.

try your local hardware store in the nuts and bolts section. they may carry them but may depend on how small you're after.

Thanks for the replies guys. Not 100% certain what a grub screw is although just searched on google and no, it doesn't seem to be what you guys are mentioning.
I went to a LBS, not a chain, but a shop that has been there like 50 years. He got a few screws out but it does seem that the threads are gone. Unfortunately I've had to resort to bending the springs, and at the moment it seems to be ok.
I had found online that one or two people say you could fill the original holes with epox and then use a tap to put in new screw threads. I mentioned it to the guy in the shop but he said he didn't have any taps that small. I actually have some myself but they are all old, imperial ones. So instead of messing about buying a tap and possibly messing the whole thing up I thought I'd try bending the springs, which I really didn't want to do, but seems to have worked for now. See if it holds up or if I have to keep adjusting them (I've read sd7's can just be left to run for years once set up so will see if this is the case now).
Thanks for the help guys and if anyone has any more info still then let me know

I doubt the threads have gone as the screws never tighten against anything.
You probably just haven't found the right size yet.
Can you measure the ones from the other set?

I actually took the ones out from the other set and tried them but they dont fit! They're too small. Well, they slide in and out a bit and grind a bit. I see what you mean about the threads but I'm basically 100% certain they've gone. I took the brake to a bike shop and he tried lots of different screws. One seemed a perfect fit (width wise) but it just wasn't gripping on the threads.
