Jaseisace

Retro Newbie
Hi everyone
Bit of a brake clear out
Two sets of Avid Elixir S in white
Usual corrosion from general use and being painted white, all pistons move freely although Dot fluid will flushing as they’ve been in a box under the work bench for about three years. Pads, springs and retaining clips will be provided but again can’t vouch for they’re usefulness as they’ve been in the same box
£17 each set posted it both sets for £30 posted

Shimano deore LX brakes in silver, lovely condition always kept them for the daughters/ wife’s bike as spares but never needed, lovely condition and work as they should
£30 posted SOLD
Cheers
Jase

Hi, how long are the hoses on the avid brakes?

I might be interested in one set, need to have a measure up.

Cheers, Ant.

Hi Ant
I’ve two sets for sale
1 set is 700mm front and 1250mm rear
1 set is 800mm front and 1400 rear
Both sets come with a standard bar clamp and a matchmaker clamp
Any more questions don’t hesitate to ask
cheers
Jase

Ok great thanks.

800 is long enough for the front, 1400 rear maybe just about. If not I can get some more hose I guess.

Will send you a pm now.

You stated that these brakes would need bleeding...

...You neglected to mention the rounded out bleed screw in the front caliper!

I haven't bothered trying the other bleed screws, they look intact but it's probably fair to say that they're seized.

I’m very sorry about that my friend
But obviously these things are to be expected on a 10 year old set of avid brakes
If you want to send them back to me, you are more than welcome and I’ll refund the £17 on receipt of the brakes
Again I’m sorry the brakes didn’t match your expectations and before I sold them I did pump the brakes and made sure the pistons moved and I did check the bleed screws as I let the fluid out and stated they did need a bleed as they’d been lying around under my workshop desk for quite a while
But it’s no problem at all if you want to send them back
Just let me know
Cheers
Jase

The one with the good bleed screw was indeed empty, the one with the rounded bleed screw was full of fluid still but like you say did need bleeding.

I had to swap the calipers and have had to buy another caliper to replace the one with the knackered screw. More expense.
