Think all I'll do is ask them all where they stand on the hunting act..

Each to his own, and all that, but this is local elections -- the hunting act is a bit irrelevant, the people you're voting for don't have any influence over that.

Yeah I know but because we've only lived here a metaphorical 5minutes, I don't know any of the nominees . . so had to think of some way of choosing..

As it was, there were no candidates or supporters about so I had to wing it a bit (didn't have a coin either  )

Couldn't disagree with you more there. The younger generations are far more politically savvy than any before - they have access to vast amounts of information at their fingertips, along with being taught from a young age about reading between the lines - both in terms of text and statistics.

but without a basic undertsanding, this information is useless
now im quite a practical person so prefer to be shown how to do stuff or why stuff is
maybe thats my problem
but im probably one of the more clued up people i know, and i know quite little
not that the people i know are silly, just that politics is never any interest to many people as much as it used to be

Nobody ever showed me how to vote.. quite a nerve-racking experience (still is.. but that's unrelated)..

But I do think the young-uns are more switched on than I ever was...

It is time they lowered the voting age.

Damn straight - 16 & 17 year olds are expected to pay tax, yet get no say in the running of the country.

i just went and voted in my retrobike hoodie and got a knowing nod from the chap handing out the ballot cards

i voted no to av as av would be good if the masses would understant it but the greater population will not understand or care how it works leaving the door open to savvy people who would bend it to there whim when collecting votes now im not a rasist but certain groups will use this to get the power they want and use that power to benefit there communitys and leave other ethnic communitys as they say high and dry

im sorry to type this but you know it has a high chance of happening

I find it very frustrating that the majority of people did not bother to try understand the AV, proportional representation or whatever voting system. The VOTE NO campaign has been using some dirty tactics to spread rumours about the implications of the AV. You can choose to vote for only one candidate if you want to, I am sure they will supply pens for you to use so you don't waste your own ink. Unfortunately people don't like change so I am going back to live in a cave and then go out later and get me a mammoth for my tea.

Can't beat a nice bit of mammoth . . ..

on the voting front the only problem is who ever you vote for the goverment gets in.
