Leaves !! Love them when they're on a tree, hate them when they're everywhere else. The battle has started and I'm already losing :(

get a decent garden blower/vac i used to have same issue with a tree in my back till i cut it down it needed to go as with it i got no light in back at all but was years before i did and used a blower vac to keep on top of it, have to use nearly every other day though so can be a pain in the rear end

war has been declared! your call for back has been answered

at least you clean up your leaves, our last neighbour wouldnt, well he did but only those that fell on his lawn! the rest of them that were on my garden, drive way or on the road blocking the drains and my gutters he left  so as a good neighbour  I used to clean them up and leave the pile on the path outside his front door  luckily the new guy has had the tree removed! it was too big for the spot and its roots were doing damage to the property and lifting the pavement! it wont be missed

They are just leaves you know. They won't harm you.

My thoughts too... I really cannot understand the level of hatred that otherwise apparently normal people hold for trees. Without them a town / village is barren and horrible, but it seems to be the ideal for a lot of people.

Yes, leaves will eventually clog up your gutters... but it's not normally all that involved a job to clean them out a few times a year, is it?

Why not fit covers over your drains to prevent the leaves getting in.

We have six trees in our garden and the opposite side of the river has a few dozen large chesnut trees. When they have all shed their leaves I just rake them off the lawn and into the borders. They rot down over winter, enrich the soil and insulate the summer flowering bulbs we have. It's also nice to see the daffys and snowdrops pop through them in spring as well as providing a little shelter to the hedgehogs.

Embrace nature, don't fight it!

I love tree's, just the leaves play on my nerves.

This Oak is probably in excess of 60ft high, couple of hundred years old and is a magnet for wildlife. I just feel its being so inconsiderate messing up my patio  and it's NOT ALONE it has a bunch of mates !!!

As for garden blowers, got three of them. Just wish the leaves would ALL drop off on the same day, would make things a tad easier

the tree in question or rather the tree that is no more, so far its caused around £3000+ of damage! thats not including the future damage done to the property that has yet to show itself! the roots have lifted the pavement, the curb stones, blocked the sewers and flooded out the neighbours house! the workmen that repaired the pathway informed us thats it roots were in the bt duct, around the water main and had broke into the main sewer line!
I'm all for trees but, in the right place and kept under control! allowing something to grow over 40' + tall in your front garden less than 10' away from the house! blocking out the light and causing damage to the property! well you should be made to pay for its removal and the repairs, and as in the states and certain parts of europe held responsible for its mess and made to clean it up

alan living next door to a forest and loveing the tree as long as they stay there  f

Then why did you buy a house next to a big tree? :?

Clearing leaves in gutters I understand. Clearing leaves off decking, ditto, but left to their own devices they'll find a nice little corner and stay there all winter, full of hedgehogs! :D
I hate leaf blowers. Noisy bloody things used by control freaks trying to tame nature.
The same with Umbrellas. If their users aren't trying to poke my eyes out with ferrule-less spikes, they're trying to poke my daughter's eyes out as they carry them rolled up at a jaunty angle.
It's only water!
I ,love Autumn, but....
