austerity measures

To all who have made comments thanks.. as i say i am not glad that i am not the only one, just to get a feeling across the board.

We{me and Mrs Ernie} have sat down looked at the outgoings, trimmed everything back..she plans all meals, we have been avid Lidl shoppers for 5 years. Have visited supermarkets 1 hour before closing..when making phone calls to 0845 number go on to http://www.saynoto0870.com/ try and get the area number{01244/01752 etc}

One good point today my eldest angel maid passed her theory driving test.

On the upside we are all fit and healthy

Any more tips ..please have an input :)

Thanks to all again :)

Excellent "top tip" - I do the same myself and in the last 6 months have probably only paid full "shelf price" for a loaf once or twice (I tend to bulk-buy the discounted bread and freeze it for later in the week)!

If you have garden space - plant a row of mixed " cut and come again" salad leaves. A £1.00 seed pack from a discount store has provided several sowings this year.

One year when it was a mild winter I even picked lettuce leaves on Christmas day!

i need to adopt some of this thinking
still living in the world of bonuses and "awards for excellence"
an embarrassing amount so far this year
make hay whilst the sun shines sort of thing

sorry i'm not helping here , but i am learning

Put your bonuses aside for a rainy day - they can come more quickly than you think. Look at all us public sector folk who thought we had secure jobs - third restructuring in a year for us with less jobs every time! so who knows how long any of us will be in work?
