Auction win "Holders"-Canada

Hi Guys,

I am currently considering buying a bike I have been after for years from America which I saw on ebay. I live in Australia and the costs of sending a bike here from the US is apparently phenomenal due to our rather small parcel size limit. (Between US$300-500).

I am going to be in Canada (BC specifically) in about 2 months. My question is, is there such a company that will have your parcel delivered to them and hold it for you until you come and pick it up, for some sort of fee? If so, I could have it shipped to them and collect it just before I leave Canada and take the bike as luggage.

I have been trying desperately to think of friends/family in Canada that could hold it for me but have so far come up empty handed.

cheers

Hi fellow Aussie
There are a couple of fine Canadian fellows on this forum who may be able to help you out if you ask nicely.
Just look for the Rocky mountain names and check location
They may take your bike out the box, thrash it through some huge mountain drop offs, then put it back in the box so you wont know till your back home
Only kidding, Canadians are far too polite and nice for that

yes some companies will hold packages for you/provide a US address for delivery and then forward to you later - forget which ones now but have a look around on the internet.

There's a member on here in BC called Behind Bars. He got a hold of Chris and got the build date of my DeKerf for me. He may be able to help you out. Seemed like a really nice guy in our conversations via email.

Worse comes to worse, I have the space to store it, but I'm in Toronto, and it's 3 time zones away from Vancouver. It would need to be shipped a second time once you got here.

*edit*If you're going to Whistler, I have a few old riding buddies out there who might be able to help provided they have storage.

or

email the LBS' where you're going and see if one of them will let you ship the bike there and put it in the back room for you.

Ran into this problem last year, eventually sent frame to NZ for normal shipping cost.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

FMJ your offer is very generous but I'm only going to be there for 3 weeks and moving around quite a bit so that might not be the best solution.

I might try and email some local bike stores and see what they say.

i would have gladly collected and stored for you, but alas I'm in Toronto as well. :(

good luck and let us know how you get on with it. ;)

Well I didn't win the auction anyway guys. It was for an all orginal proflex animal with the HED carbon mountain discs. It went for just over 500 and my max was 450.

I have my eye on a 957 at the moment as well.
