Asthma , SSP and being for to work

Re:

I’ll be riding as much as I can that’s for sure. Not looking forward to lockdown at all

My wife is Spanish so I’ve seen her family dealing with what I’m guessing you are going through. It’s not good at all.

If I can get my money back for my cancelled holiday I would be a little more relaxed about the money side.

Looking like we're still allowed out for now!
Shhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuussssshhh, I'm still keeping it quiet.

Hope you are well by the way Mark, haven't seen you since the Peaks ride a couple of years ago, the last retro ride that I've been on. Don't suppose that this is going to be the year to "get back out there".

I'll be down the shed then. Tinkering.

Iv'e been out of work since last November so iv'e kind of been on a forced lock down already. I know it's not quite the same but we'll get by. I can only think of the poor buggers who got through the 1st and 2nd world wars, they didn't even know if their house and family would exist the next morning. They improvised and used newspaper for wiping their backsides and lived off home grown vegetables and other local fair like Rabbit and Squirrel.

Stiff upper lip guys and gals, buy in some sensible non perishables and apply Rule 5. Iv'e been practising since November, seriously, only going out to walk the dog and to go to shop for essentials due to lack of salary etc. It's not all that bad, unless you get forced onto SSP that is.

And, listen to LGF, he's on the nail with his advice, for a change ;-) hehe. Iv'e been an employer and a line manager for many years so I know a little bit about employment T's & C's.

Almost spat my granola out!

I guess you didnt want to do auto electrics then.

Have had to officially inform my lot that the missus has been told to stay home after developing cold like symptoms. She will just work from home anyway, I'm out on the road today but will wait on the reply to my email as to what happens next.

Asthma; tick.
Registered recipient of the annual flu jab; tick
Freelance; tick
Marching orders at 7:30 this morning by current client via text; tick
No SSP or compensation available for self employed (I think?)

Not complaining though as I think I’m in a more fortunate position than some.
But it’s all rather serious isn’t it?

Ps, problem with Asthma is it (the disease/condition) doesn’t care how strong/fit/young/old you are, it will still severely affect your ability to actually breath if you are also infected with a virus that is known to have an adverse affect on your respiratory system :(

My daughter lives with her mother (The Ex Wife) in another town, they are on lock down, I don't know when I'll be able to see my daughter again. The ex wife is asthmatic and has many allergies, her new fella is a self employed painter and decorator so no money and they are all locked in the house.

Not sure what to do about seeing my little girl though, guess it's time for Face Time :-(

Apolz for hijacking this post with my little whinge :-)

Good luck riding it out. Good point re the Asthma. I'm late onset & peak flow 650+ with my twice daily steroid inhaler. Easy to get cocky if you're new to it but a flu virus can seriously affect you & have you in A&E struggling for breath.

Still disgustingly fit.

I would like to self isolate but the screaming silence and lack of replies to my emails does not bode too well. There is a lot of pressure to carry on going to work.

Technically if I dont follow the company rules on using PPE (gloves, hand gels etc), I could be in breach of contract.

Sending me out despite being in a vulnerable category doesnt seem to quite register their end yet.
