When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Please be aware that there is a big difference between ASKING price and SELLING price. There are many reasons why asking an astronomical price can make sense. This is just the type of product that might attract the attention of an anal-retentive collector who is restoring their bike to its original shape and wants the bike to be absolutely "like new". I remember when 15 years ago you could find a NOS 70's or 80's saddle of your choice for £20. Now the prices have gone up drastically.

this is true. you often see vastly inflated priced parts languishing on ebay for months at a time. clearly they are hedging their bets over the listing costs for a period like that!

on the plus side, the assos saddle was the most comfortable one that i can recall. they did it drilled and non drilled. do i remember something about the drilled ones breaking across the holes .. . .hmmm....can't be certain on that score such is my age!!

Yes I can confirm they break across the holes. At ECCA festival road race circa 1984, mine broke across the middle and I sat in a ridge for 60 miles. I had to be lifted off the bike at the end and couldn't drive home for a couple of hours
