Last time i built a bike i used some fancy waterproof grease my dad borrowed from his works, I cant remember the full name of it but it started like Moly......, Was very good though and expensive i believe.

molybdenum grease?
If so, this is designed essentially for high load shear applications, rather than running surfaces like bearings, so not ideal in all apps.
Often used for racks in cars and such like.

No not that one, I'll ask him next time i see him.

moykote? is a silicon grease used for o rings and rubber seals normal grease perishes rubber. I wouldn't use grease for building up a bike.

Anti sieze/copperslip for bolts and fastners
Grease for bearings
Silicon grease for rubber seals,o rings etc.

Molycote, Thats the one. i used it on headset bearings and old style BB's before cartridges were common. For bolts i use copper slip.

I stand by Silkolene RG2, it's a quality grease, and i use it for everything, even regreasing old elastomer forks. It's synthetic, so it doesn't swell rubber or nylon bushes etc. It's never let me down when it comes to greasing seatposts, stems and bottom brackets to stop them seizing.

Get it from a decent motorbike shop, not the fancy ones where the fair weather riders go, i mean proper back street shop. :!:

the guys at aylsbury use finishline products to teach with on there cytech courses and at that anoth said its all you'll ever need
