Arse on bikeradar (**** ****** **** ****)!!!

It's a laugh, the guy is obviously on the wind up and some of it is funny. Can't take it seriously and I'm sure he doesn't either.

I got a mention too :) ...
(though I would still like a Xizang, saw a Retrobike guy on one of those at 10UTB, sent me right back)

He didn't mention that the rider was an overweight 40 something pushing it up the hill either... unless it is later in the thread. :)

well, it does appear to be a provocative post..... but all the same, the questions are quite valied.

1. what the hell are you planning to ride on those bikes
A. almost all the same things that any modern full suspension bike can ride.

b. why
A. Why not? It is no different to driving a vintage car or riding a 1929 BSA. There is also much more skill involved in chosing the smoothest line instead of letting the suspension soak up the bumps.

iii who are you trying to impress
Who said anything about impressing .... but in reality if someone on a 4 k full susser gets beaten on a downhill by a mid 90s rigid then you know deep down they will be impressed even if they pretend they are not.

If we all rode the same type of bike, then the world would be a less interesting place.

Am I alone in tthinking that new bikes are probably quite good, but I have no knowlege of hw to look after them and I am too tight to replace my old iron!

Also, I cannot really get excited about new stuff like I do about old stuff.

Did see a White 19 Steel with a carbon Pace fork in the LBS earlier. Thought I'd like that, then thought beacuse it is basically an old bike at heart!
