Argos Respray Help

G'day..

Really must get this frame off to the sprayers.. Has anyone had a spray through Argos before? Just want to know the overall process..

I've called them, they directed me to their site and I've got the two PDFs needed [box label and What Now]. So here are my questions..

1. What if the colour I want aren't listed on their site?
2. Shall I include a diagram for colours & decal placement?
3. Is it better to choose somewhere more local so I can go along and chat with the sprayers?

Any and all help greatly appreciated..

I have an RC200 that waas apparently sprayed by them years ago and the finish seems pretty good. Im lead to believe that Pace use them when reconditioning frames.

Have just had mine done at argos and must say was very happy with the results.
In answer to your questions
1. They do black and white also but as for custom colours i dont know as i had one of their standard colours. dont see why a spray shop cannot mix to suit a sample but you really need to speak to them.

2. Yes the guy said send a diagram so i sent pics of frames with notes to say exactly where the decals go. Was a little concerned about this but these guys are doing it all day every day so they know what they are doing i suppose (hopefully)

3. Personally i went with them because although there are cheaper places i figured that i may as well get the best to be honest. How many times do you want to repaint it? If like me you want to do it just once then do it properly IMHO.

from other friends who've used them. the quality of spray, decals & overal finish is pretty good. the paint itself massively varies in durability. 1 of my mates scratched & chipped mega easily for some reason.

The FUNK was done there,tbh they dont like to venture away from the colours that they have on the list,if you can supply the correct type of paint then have a chat with them maybe they will do it for you.The problem being,they know what the paints they use regular are going to come out/react like,if they mix paint or use your supplied stuff and you dont like the end results they will have to charge you for the spraying anyway.Thats what they told me.

1. How do you define what colours you want? If you have RAL numbers, they’ll be able to obtain the paint easily enough, and it’ll be exactly the same for them to use, but they’ll charge you extra because it's a nuisance and it’ll cost them more.

But they and most wet painters use an Italian colour palette, because most of their customers are roadies and Italy is, as you know, the central inspiration of the cycling world. This is one of the reasons why their finish looks so rich and sumptuous compared to what we’re used to on ‘American’ bikes, because the American colour palette is less rich than the Italian.

If you want a tougher finish, most powdercoaters work to RAL numbers, which are a bit more like the colours Americans use, but two tone and special effects are much more difficult in powder I believe.

3. Probably, but the whole trade works to a production line process and they don’t want any complications slowing them down, so ‘chatting’ about individual jobs is not what they really want to do.

I'd disagree there Anthony. I think refinishers work in a very competitive market and get more business from recommendation than advertising. They love you going in there, having a chat over a cup of tea to explain what you want and agreeing on what they can/can't do. YOur more likely to be happy with teh result too. Just phone ahead and make an appointment rather than just wander in off the street! Just my 2p

No,i went in with an idea of what colour i wanted,they showed me the lime green and it was a bit tame for what i wanted,i asked if they could mix some yellow in with it or a gold pearl over the top but thats when they explained that if it came out looking shite then id still have to pay for the work,wasnt too keen on that.Then they said that theyve got Kawasaki Green made up as they do a lot of repair work for the local Kawi centre,jobs a good'un
