Ok, as some of the Retro'rs know I am working on a Trek 9200 rebuild. I purchased a set of Trek Mogul forks back on April 16th via EBay (I know, kick me while I am down). I really couldn't find anything like them around and the seller 12-28 has been around for over 6 years. He also has a FLAWLESS feedback rating. To this day I have not received the fork and I am wondering if I will EVER get the forks. Here's a bit of a twist as well.....there was a postal strike in June/July here in Canada and it delayed mail and parcels for about a month. My question to the forum is......am I screwed? I tried to do a search and am wondering if he is also on the forum or if anyone knows him.

Here's his contact info
EBay ID: 12-28

EDIT: [Home address and email removed]

you don't mention if you have contacted him and if so what was the reply?

not to sure if putting thier home address up is a wise thing to do?

i think hes an ebay trader so the address is fine posted imho.

id keep trying to contact them, can you check with your postal service to see if its caught up?

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
I've contacted him and he's been pretty good about getting back to me until the last week. The info I have posted is actually in all of his completed listings. I know it takes a while for things via ground to get to North America and we've communicated that back in June but its now the beginning of August and it still hasn't shown up. I mean it could be held up in customs but this is truly baffling.

Thanks for the link to the forks. I have seen those and he's asking too much for them.

PS. I work for Canada Post as a Letter Carrier so I have been trying to get a hold of someone in the right department about parcels.

there is a rumour going round that he is someone that was banned as a seller from here, there are also reports of items not turning up and not being in the condition described.

there are also reports of people who have had good dealings with this chap however.

he is very well known for buying and breaking bikes and he regularly pips me to the post on items

I've edited the original post to remove the home address and email details as it's not a good idea to post them up so publicly.

As far as I'm aware, 12-28 is not a member of Retrobike, but he does know about the site. As such I don't think he does any trading on here so any problems will be for the buyer, seller and ebay to resolve.

I've dealt with him on numerous occasions through ebay and never had any problems with him. His ebay feedback is also very good.

I suggest you contact him to try to resolve the situation. If this proves unsatisfactory then consider the ebay dispute process.

If you are using Ebay, I suggest you ALWAYS use Paypal for purchasing items you are going to have delivered. Regardless of how helpful sellers always are, if you haven't got that item by the end of the 44th day after paying, then you open an INR with Paypal and then you are covered for your initial outlay. If the item turns up after that, then fine.
As it is nearly 4 months since you purchased the forks, you have no resolution process with which to proceed, other than asking you CC company (if that is how you fund you Paypal purchases) to help with a "chargeback" to recover the funds.
This isn't in any way meant to be malicious to any sellers, but if they have got the relevant proof of posting/correct insurance, then they too will be able to claim back their money from the carrier.

I have had a number of items shipped from the UK since the strike ended. A set of cranks sent the first day Royal Mail was accepting parcels/mail to Canada on July 5th arrived July 8th  . A set of pedals after that took a week, so the gateways are caught up. Those were both Air Mail, though. It's not unheard of for larger packages shipped via surface to take 6+ weeks.

agreed on the paypal..I would message him one more time..point out that it was a purchase with an expectation and unless the item arrives within the next 7 days then you will begin an ebay paypal refund

not much you can do beyond that really
