Are any bikes worth more now than they were then?

OK, so let's exclude any of those with an amazing provenance, such as the Tomac and Tinker's own rides of this world, but what about the bikes you could buy in the shop back in the day? Are any of them as yet, inflation etc adjusted, worth more now than they were then? Have we reached that point as yet? Classic cars tend to follow an interesting curve where they lose almost all value and then languish at the bottom before gradually becoming "classic" and creeping back up to a point where, all of a sudden, a very select few break way above what they were worth way back when.

Where are we on the curve with bikes, then?

klein in the states at least. oversized rigid klein forks espically.

obviously white onza porcs have been like this for some time! cook bros QRs in UK also making more than previous retail.

Old-School BMX stuff has been mad for a while now.
Especially stuff that was expensive BITD or stuff that usually snapped - thereby ensuring future scarcity :lol:

Ignoring inflation and just looking at "absolute" values, stuff that regularly sells for more than original retail:

Cook Bros: BMX Bars, frames, stems, seat post clamps... anything, really.

Shimano: DX BMX groupset: Platform pedals, cranks and chainrings.

Hutch: Beartrap pedals, Aerospeed cranks. But Hutch eventually off-shored all their production. The far-east parts sell for peanuts, so you have to do your research.

Skyway: TA frames; The "Graphite" version of the Tuff wheels with gold anodized centres and Campagnolo hub internals;

S.E. Racing: Early looptail P.K. Rippers and Quadangles.

Cranks: Original style Redline Flite and Profile cranks ... to the extent where people have gone to great lengths re-conditioning beaten-up parts and advertising them as "NOS".

Very naughty.

Let's hope the retro MTB scene never becomes such a greed-fest.

NOS CNC'd Anodized boutique items from small MFGs.

and like Scant stated, Kleins with the original oversized forks/stem/handlebars...they go at a premium.

oh, and yes, another biker and I were talking the other day about how we should've bought a bunch of the Yo Eddy BOI forks back in the day, store them, and make a killing now...haha, pipe dreams.

i was thinking the same about my old skateboard, have you seen the price of NOS deaks :shock: . old santa cruz and powell from the 80's, thats scary.
