Anyone use 'SAINT' cranks on a XC bike?

Only issues I can think of is that think you cna only have them with single or double chainrings and they will more than likely be pretty hefty weight wise, if neither of these bother you I dont see why not.

Pretty sure they weigh about twice what my sram force do . How many chainrings are you planning on having ?

Have you looked at the hone ones ? A bit cheaper .

Mansfield centre buddy, saints do look nice I was going to have some on my downhill bike before I got rid of it. But they will weight a fair bit, I always thought the deores looked quite nice with them being in black. To be fairI never user the little ring infact recently I only use the big un lol. If your cool with the middleburns looks wise I'd say go for a set I've heard nothing but good things about them and thats from people into XC, dirt jumping, trials and even a few of the downhill clan. Never owned a set before myself as I like my cooks too much, but I rate middleburn rings really nicely made.

Yeah the deore don't look too bad at all , I was put off by them not being hollow . Was going to buy the new middleburns but they are taking too long , looked at alternatives and took a chance with the sram force . Fookin love them , was worried about damaging the carbon but I saw some pics of fsa carbon cranks that stood up to bashes from rocks and they have an alloy core so little chance of the thing snapping off . They are very stiff , much stiffer than any square taper I have ever used because of the outboard bearing design but they aren't harsh to ride . When pedaling hard over rough ground you really can feel the cranks absorbing the shocks but remaining stiff .

Your stuck with a single ring , and a small one at that though .

Don't forget Rob Warner raced the rs7 cranks .

Blackspire make some nice cranks that come in black..got a set on my RM and I'm pleased with them

i Ran some Saint's on my Hardtail for a while after popping a pedal out of its socket on a drop with some XT Cranks..

they where massivley stiff and strong.. but weighed about the same as a small moon.. which is why i eventually sold them and replaced them with SLX as they where pretty energy sapping on longer rides!

had 3 chainrings on mine too.. bought a double and bash combo and swapped the bashring for an outer chainring..

Hmmm SLX interest me. I was just gonna go for some middleburn but I kinda want something different. I toying with the idea of stripping my XT back and either spraying or polishing up? Something about if it's not broke don't fix it?

Ape... I used to be a Mansfield boy back in the day. All Saints schooling, chesterfield rd art collage. First job was at the Swan. Learnt to duck and dive in the field.
