its finding washers that 1/2 fit thats the problem due to the confined space!
if the depth is too much they dont clear the tabs.. but hey essentially right & an easy fix :)
 
Normally I'd agree, but looking at that photo there's plenty of room if you're doing the middle ring. There doesn't look to be a shoulder on the back of the spider.

I'm not suggesting that it's a permanent fix, just a way of finding the size of spacers you need to make. :wink:
 
I've found the bag of washers and bolts that came of these, the spacers are 1.5mm.
 
Ok,ive just made a set of 2mm spacers,ill start with these and see how it goes,thanks for the good info chaps.
 
Heres the pic before the spacers,see how close the inner ring is to the middle...

2mm spacers fitted,looks a lot better spacing,gotta see when its set up if the gaps correct.
