alot of cars ect only have one side. its just cheaper an easyer.

Single piston car calipers float where as single actin cable disc calipers don't so the disc has to bend a bit.

My only experience of cable disks is cheap tektro ones on the wife's mtb, they are OK, but no more powerful than v brakes. I love hydraulics, not just for the shear power and control, but they are a sealed system and need very little or no maintenance. There is no way for dirt or water to get in. I love my modern xt ones.

As perviously stated Kooka cable discs are double acting. I've have some Gusset Chutes on my SS and they are exactly the same as Kookas, except they cost more money  . I found them to be about as powerfull as a set of v brakes and no where near as powerfull as the hydraulic discs on my other bike. I've not tried BB7s but I've read alot of good things about them. One thing I did pick up from the reviews is that the people that really rated them seemed to be running them with big rotors, 203mm etc. My Gussets came with 180/160 and I weigh 190lbs so I guess that's why to me they meerly seem adequate.
