Hey TP, where was this?

MBUK, where else?

It was a 'Backwoods', a Tange framed hardtail with own-brand shockers. The frame actually looked very Clockwork-esque with its wishbone stays and short headtube. Not surprisingly they loved the frame but hated the forks. Still, didn't seem to bring anything to the party that a dozen other steel hardtails already had?

Oh, not a triple-triangle either. Did they really sell them branded as Mt Shasta? :?

Shogun was not an off shoot of GT they just used the hellenic frame style (triple triangle), Mt Shasta was a separate line of bikes sold by GT's Riteway distribution in the US. They were not branded as GT's. It gave GT/Riteway a chance to sell product to other dealers that were located too close to the dealers they already had. It's called grabbing market share and floor space.
