Anyone knowledgable about Ferrari?

I've just seen the photo further up the thread. I think it's a Cromadora wheel. Try doing a search on Google for them.

maybe searching for ferrari 308 gts and stop calling it a "magnum" 8) might result in better searches... ah Magnum, on twice a day on the tv at the moment, excellent (except they just keep repeating the same series!)

It's definately compomotive.... It's embossed on....

I think that the 'magnum' was some kind of limited edition, not just the hairy bloke!

Further research has discovered that a lot of 308 owners replaced their wheels from the original metric sizes (that were difficult to get tyres for) to the easier to find, imperial..... This is a 15", and 308's were originally fitted with 14"( or the metric equivalent)....... Could this of happened here then?

It's definately 'period' though, but might be an aftermarket 'upgrade'

Sorry fir excessive use of quotation marks!

Genuine wheels were made by Campantura or Campagnolo for the first year or so before going on to Cromadora. They were in metric sizings and wore Michelin MXVs in a 390 dia IIRC. These tyres were rubbish, had no grip and wore out quickly. They were also very expensive to replace and became hard to source. Many second and third owners with shallower pockets swapped them for cheap Compomotives in 15 or 16 inch. That wheel in the pic is not an original wheel.
Most 308 GTBs and GTS' are now owned by collectors who pay stupid money for the original Cromadora wheels (which being magnesium and over 20 years old are prone to collapse) to return the car to original. I'm sorry to say, as nice as it is, that wheels isn't going to get you rich.

Thanks stevo, I think that puts it to bed nicely.....

It's still a nice looking thing for the collector though...I might just bung it on eBay to see what happens.....someone must be able to do something with it other than to have it sit in my garage for years!
